On Thursday, September 15, Moku‘ula by Moonlight will welcome the harvest moon rising above Mauna Kawahine as part of its fall program. This free cultural and educational program runs from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Join us at Hale Halawai in Kamehameha Iki Park, 525 Front Street, Lahaina for live music, storytelling and sharing.

Hawaiian music and storytelling mix when popular musicians share the stage with local elders who tell their stories about Lahaina. Entertainers include ‘ukulele and slack key artists in a kanikapila style jam. Special guest speakers talk about current Native Hawaiian issues. The outdoor setting is relaxing and inspiring, and impromptu hula is always welcome. Plenty of parking is available in the Moku‘ula open-air lot on the corner of Shaw and Front Streets.

Check out these scenes from the Summer Solstice Moku‘ula by Moonlight. Our next generation of performers were Lois Leinani Whitney, Anthony Pfluke and Shem Kahawai‘i. Guest speaker Tiare Lawrence opened the program. Mahalo to J. Anthony Martinez for his photography and Calvin Kuamo‘o for videography! Our programs air on AKAKU Maui Community Media TV. Please contact us with any questions.
