Na Aikane O Maui and Aha Moku O Maui will culminate Makahiki Ka‘apuni (close of makahiki season) at the end of their islandwide march on Saturday, March 7 at 12 noon in Lahaina. Ceremonies will take place on the Moku‘ula restoration site at the corner of Shaw and Front Streets.

Friends of Moku‘ula will have informational displays in a tent on site near the pohaku monument. Special guest, Dr. Paul Klieger, anthropologist and ethnohistorian who directed the Bishop Museum archaeological digs at the Moku‘ula site, will speak on stage at 1 pm. The Friends of Moku‘ula invites you to meet Dr. Klieger and hear his stories about Kauikeaouli (Kamehameha III), the last monarch of Hawai‘i to rule from Moku‘ula, and the royal residence on Moku‘ula island in Mokuhinia pond.

Na Aikane O Maui plans to have educational tents, cultural demonstrations, island music and food booths on site through the afternoon. For more information, contact Ke‘eaumoku Kapu at 808-250-1479.
